This family operation is run by Todd Riethmuller, a highly experience Barossa Valley local winemaker. The classy cellar door lies on the main street of Tanunda and the fruit is sourced from both the Barossa and Eden Valleys. Only 3000 cases are made at the winery, allowing strong attention to detail in this range. Since opening in 2004 the winery has won a string of awards including trophies and gold medals for their Riesling and GSM. Todd has a fondness to Riesling stating “I have a particular soft spot for Riesling; it is the best white for me.” The Ruth Miller Riesling is definitely a stand out wine in the portfolio garnering much praise in the wine press. This is a great young producer with the world ahead of them.

Sourced from the cool altitudes of Eden Valley this Riesling shows typical restraint and finesse. It shows a pale, delicate colour and highly aromatic nose. The bouquet shows notes of citrus, limes and orange peel with a mineral/chalky complexity. The palate is medium bodied, racy and dry with a higher acid finish. A wonderful version of cool climate Riesling. Cellar 0-10 years. Great job-93 points.

"Sticky" 2009 (Cordon Cut Semillon)

The canes from the Semillon vines are cut at full ripeness and the grapes are allowed to dehydrate and concentrate on the vine prior to harvest. These highly sweet grapes are then fermented and a high amount of residual sweetness remains at the end of the process. The aromas are intense with flavours of citrus, cumquats, dried apricots/pears and marmalade. The palate is rich and opulent with pleasing acidity to balance the obvious sweetness. A refreshing dessert style, balanced and more-ish.   Cellar 0-10 years. 92 points.
